Tis with hearts full of pride,
Dear Alma Mater,
We rise and sing to thee
And pledge to keep thy colors high
Through all the years to be.
To thy name we promise to be loyal,
Ever faithful, Ever true;
Roosevelt, to thee our song shall be-
All Hail! Hail! Hail!

Dear Roosevelt High School Class of 1964,
Remember singing our alma mater back then?  As we approach our 50th anniversary, we invite you to help towards a class gift.  We hope to present the Class of 2014 a check towards Project Grad and, more importantly, grant some deserving students of the Class of 2014 with university and community college scholarships.  (Project Grad provides a non-alcoholic all-nighter of fun activities and food for the graduates.)  Could you “rise” to the occasion and make a generous donation towards the class gift?
The amount for Project Grad and the number of scholarships will depend on what we receive.  We are aiming for $1,000 towards Project Grad and the residual amount to be divided up for $1,000 scholarships to selected graduates entering universities and $500 scholarships to those attending community college.  Fortunately, the RHS Alumni Foundation has the application forms, the interview process, and the procedures in place.  (Note that the scholarship funds are sent to the institutions in the graduate’s name.)
Please send your checks to the Roosevelt High School Alumni Foundation, P.O. Box 23424, Honolulu, HI 96823-3424.  The RHS Alumni Foundation is a 501c(3) organization -- which currently allows a tax deduction.   Please clearly indicate on the check’s  “Memo” line that it’s for the ‘RHS 64 - Class Gift” and on any transmittal note.  We will collect the funds towards Project Grad and the scholarships through April 30, 2014.  Any other donations after April will be given to the Foundation to use as deemed appropriate.
Our Class President Laurie Yap Wong and committee have thrown out a challenge:  “minimum of $1 per year since graduation!”  Can you donate at least $50 -- and we hope more -- towards our class gift?
We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at next year’s activities in Las Vegas and in Honolulu!  Contact Liana at if you have questions.
Aloha pumehana,
Sandra Iwami Kasaoka, Lorraine Kong Tokuda, and  Liana Lau Benn
